It replaces the standard 110/230 V power supply, enabling the system to operate from external batteries or other DC power sources. This makes it a practical choice for locations without access to mains electricity or those with unstable power. The unit converts a 4.2–16 V DC input to the required voltage for the connected hub or range extender. Installation involves replacing the default power supply board inside the device housing.
